A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS
REIMAGINING BOOK COVERS
A Series of Unfortunate Events is a novel series written by American author Daniel Handler under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. The series follows the turbulent lives of the Baudelaire children: Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. After the death of the Baudelaire's parents, they were placed under the custody of Count Olaf, who is trying to steal their fortune. The Baudelaires go through a series of unfortunate events while escaping from Count Olaf.
Design Concept
This project involved reimagining two book covers of Lemony Snicket’s famous novel series, A Series of Unfortunate Events: "The Bad Beginning" and "The Reptile Room". The design focuses on significant events of each book; "The Bad Beginning" illustrates the Baudelaire's mansion burnt down and "The Reptile Room" illustrates Uncle Monty's reptile room. I was inspired by Victorian style, this can be seen within the illustrations in each of the original books.
